Dinner at Park Inn by Radisson Hotel, 2nd Industrial city, Dammam

The new “Park Inn by Radisson Hotel & Apartments” set up shop recently in Dammam’s Second Industrial area and I was invited to try out their new restaurant, “RBG Grills” (https://goo.gl/c28fKZ). First impressions, the hotel is imposing with its beautiful interiors and it is quite extensive for a Park Inn hotel. The staff are very courteous and I was greeted with a free drink in the lobby. They have 2 restaurants in total including RBG with “Bocca Buona”, a pizzeria that is set to open in a couple of weeks. The Modon Café is located in the lobby and is a compact coffee shop.

Having just recently launched, the menu at “RBG Grills” was limited to a single page and was told this would be expanded in due course. I ordered the Mezzah Platter (SR. 45) that had 2 jars, one with Hummus and the other with Moutabel, a bowl of mixed salad & vine leaves.

The Hummus and Moutabel had a lovely texture and tasted wonderful. It went well with the bread basket that they served with the platter. The salad wasn’t too impressive, but the vine leaves made up for it.

For the main course, I ordered what I call a “Deal breaker”. “Fish & Chips” (SR. 75) can be a little tricky to get right. The Hamour was a little moist and not flaky like I expected it to be, but the batter was on point here and the fish tasted wonderful. The tartar sauce is a wonderful add on and compliments the fish well and the chips were fried to a crisp.

I had my eyes set on the “Chocolate brownie with Vanilla ice cream” (SR.28) even before I ordered the main course. The brownie was a solid chunk that was served almost frozen with a scoop of ice-cream and some fresh fruits. Though the brownie tasted good with the ice-cream, it wasn’t the combination I was looking for. A soft warm brownie with ice-cream is always better than a cold brownie with cold ice-cream.

The “Berry Crumble Cheesecake” (SR. 32) felt more like a cold soufflé than a cheesecake and I would definitely prefer to go with the brownie.

The place has a wonderful ambience and being located in second industrial, it would be the ideal place for a business lunch. Also, they have a few burgers on the menu that I look forward to trying out next time.
