The NH bypass that runs through Kozhikode has quite a few eateries / road side restaurants that serve food 24/7.
‘Kozhikoden Kitchen’ is one such place located close to ‘Hi-Lite’ mall that we decided to stop by for breakfast after a visit to the fish market.
You’ll find Non Veg dishes through out the day and for breakfast, I decided a half ‘Beef Varatiyath’ with some ‘Idiyappam’ was just what I needed. Dad & Mum went with the ‘Beef Liver Fry’ and Vellapam.
1. Appam – ₹10 per piece
2. Idiyappam – ₹10 per piece
3. Beef Varatiyath (Half) – ₹200
4. Beef Liver Fry – ₹240

The Appam and Idiyappam are made fresh on order and are really good. Most of the curries they serve here would pair well.

The ‘Beef Liver Fry’ was absolutely mouthwatering and had to be the best dish from our order. Spicy, nicely rendered masala and perfectly cooked liver that would go well with almost anything.

The ‘Beef Varatiyath’ was a little dry and had a lot more pepper and not the best combination with Idiyappam. I loved how tender the beef was and I would definitely enjoy this with some porotta.

The tea really hits the spot and I would want to visit again just to drink that tea again. It is noisy though thanks to its proximity with the National Highway.
