Getting Messy at ‘Pound of Prawns’ – Al Khobar

Everything here starts with a pound, be it Prawns, Crab, Lobster or Mussel and it is recommended you visit with a group of friends.  It has only been a few months since this place opened up in Khobar and has been highly rated and reviewed by locals on @googlemaps. We hit the joint over the…

‘Christmas at the D’Souza’s’ – Tis the Season to Be Jolly

It had been years since I last celebrated Christmas in Saudi Arabia. Christmas was usually spent in Bahrain, feasting on Christmas lunch and beer. This year was different and I was tied down with work to even consider driving over the causeway.  All that changed when I was invited over for Christmas Dinner at the…

Hyderabadi Food at ‘Shimla Hayider Restaurant’, Thoqbah – Khobar

If it hadn’t been for @foodingmyselfaround I would have totally missed out on authentic Hyderabadi food within walking distance of my flat.  ‘Shimla Hayider Restaurant’ first opened over 30 years ago and changed locations over 9 years ago to Makkah street, Thoqbah.  We headed over for lunch soon after noon prayers since we were told…

Farm to Wok at the new ‘PFChangs’, Ajdan Walk – Khobar

‘PFChangs’ in Al Khobar was a long time coming and they finally opened up to the public along with the @thecheesecakefactoryme @ksanandos and a host of other restaurants in the new Ajdan Walk in Khobar corniche. It also happened to be the day that I finally met up with fellow food blogger @foodingmyselfaround for dinner.…

Syrian Cuisine at ‘Bawabet Dimashq’ Restaurant, Al Khobar

Though @bawabtdimashk had been operating in Khobar for quite some time, this was going to be my first visit to the restaurant. ‘Dimashq’ is the arabic name for Damascus and Syrian cuisine happens to be one my culinary favourites. We ordered the ‘Hummus with Meat’ (SR. 27), ‘Kofta with Cheese’ (SR. 30), ‘Kebab with Blueberry’…

‘Al Sheesh for Barbecue’ – Al Hira st, Jeddah

You tend to find some of the most astonishing food in places you least expect to and ‘Al Sheesh for Barbecue’ ticked all the right boxes. My colleague and friend Zeeshan, also a food enthusiast who operates @hungryboyksa had planned on bringing me here for over a week and I can honestly say, this is…

‘Amo Zain’ Sudanese Restaurant at Bani Malik, Jeddah

I finally had my way when my colleague from Sudan agreed to take me to a Sudanese restaurant. This newly opened restaurant in the Bani Malik area of Jeddah had never been visited before so we decided it was the right opportunity to experience food that I had never encountered before. With no roof and…

Traditional Street Food from the ‘Levant’ at ‘Zaroob KSA’, Jeddah

‘Zaroob” is a restaurant chain based in the UAE serving up food from the ‘Levant’ (Syria, Jordan, Lebanon & Palestine) and the name literally translates to ‘Alleyway’ and the food takes inspiration from traditional street food vendors from the region. The restaurant has been open for a few months now and I had the opportunity…

Hyderabadi Food at ‘Aadaab Restaurant’ – Azizyah, Jeddah

As much as I love trying out different cuisines, I tend to miss good ol’ Indian food from time to time. ‘Aadaab Restaurant’ in the Azizyah area had a good rating on @googlemaps and I joined my colleagues for dinner. ‘Aadaab’ serves hyderabadi food and the best time to pay a visit would be before…

@chicken.firrie
Today’s post is my version of the ‘Mehran Qorma Masala’ recipe by @mehranarabia using @tanmiahchicken. This is by far one of the best creations I’ve cooked till date and NO THIS IS NOT A PAID POST.
It wasn’t until last night that i finally got to try ‘Lucknowi Tunday Kebab’ or like my friend likes to call it, a close relative. With over 160 spices being used for the original ‘Tunday’ kebab, this variant was born out of an experiment that turned out to be a success.
@makbousexpress has been consistent with the quality of their food and it also happens to be one of the restaurants I regularly visit for takeaway even when the pandemic was in full swing.
Now that we are in a state of semi lockdown thanks to Covid-19 rearing it’s ugly head again, it’s back to the kitchen for Instagram wannabe chefs like me to experiment with cooking. I decided to try my hand at preparing ‘Chicken Ginger Masala’, a recipe I found on a packet of Mehran’s masala.
I had been wanting to try @foodie__suz ‘Kottayam Fish Curry’ recipe and since we had enough ‘ചൂര / Tuna’, @shareeka23 decided to give it a go.
