Saihat is located off Jubail road before the city of Qatif in the Eastern Province and thanks to my good friend, Amir Viqar and his history of great recommendations we headed to “Bab Al Murad” for dinner. Located at an intersection and taking over much of the sidewalk, this place was swarmed with people. It’s always a good sign when a place is crowded so we headed in to order. The menu is only available in Arabic so it would be a great idea to take someone along who can translate for you.

With a variety of grilled alternatives to choose from, we found a few exciting options and decided to give it a try. We ordered the “Tikka Zatar” (SR. 4) “Awsal Pizza” (SR. 4) and to complete the order, we ordered the standard “Chicken Wings” (SR. 3), “Shish Tawouk” (SR. 3) & “Awsal Lahm” (SR. 4).

The experience of watching the food being prepared right in front of you is an exciting experience for those who choose to visit the restaurant.

What surprised us the most while we ordered were the ridiculously cheap prices. Yes, we paid SR. 3 to SR. 4 per skewer of grilled meats and they weren’t compromising on quality either. The Chicken skewers were tender and very well cooked with the spices really giving the meat much needed depth. My personal favourite had to be the “Tikka Zatar” with it’s unique ingredient complimenting the meat. Yes, they used actually Zatar to coat the cubes of meat but I would have preferred if they cooked it a little while longer. The “Awsal Pizza” had nothing to show for and I wouldn’t recommend this item. The garlic paste is absolutely horrible and I would stay as far away as possible from the free salad’s that they serve.

They have a family section here but I would recommend Ayyam Zaman if you are looking for a more comfortable experience. The singles have seating areas both inside and outside the restaurant with the ones outside extend all the way to the road. This would be a great place to hangout with friends once the weather gets better.
