Traditional Hejazi Cuisine ‘Saleeg’ at ‘مطعم مناحي’, Jeddah

I first heard about “Saleeg” many years ago and I’ve never really looked into it since then. It finally popped up the other day when I was looking for local cuisines in the Western Region and I knew exactly what I had to do. Saleeg (Arabic: سليق‎ Hejazi pronunciation: [saˈliːg]) is a white-rice dish, cooked…

Middle Eastern Cuisine at ‘The Lighthouse Restaurant’ – Kozhikode, Kerala

The Lighthouse Restaurant in Calicut (@tlhcalicut) scores some major points in terms of its location and design. Located on the by-pass opp. Metro Cardiac Hospital, it also comes with a mini lighthouse built into the side of a cliff. Loved the layout and the mini tents they have set up to house customers. We took…

Mandi Waleema from ‘Qatif Hospitality Palace’ – Qatif

I have lived in Saudi long enough to try different varieties of Mandi, both meat and chicken and the one mandi that I always fall back on is the irresistible “Mandi Waleema” (SR.105) from “Qateef Hospitality Palace”. No other place has gotten close to perfecting the meat & rice combination like they have. A lil’…

Lamb Mandi at “Sama Deraty” – Riffa, Bahrain

Another Mandi place visited, this time in Riffa, Bahrain. We drove past “Sama Deraty” on our place to another restaurant but ended up coming back here since the other places were closed. With my fellow foodies Nicky & Blossom, we decided to go all out and ordered 2 portions of the Lamb Mandi. The Mandi…

Dammamiyah Kabsa at “Teef Madhinah Restaurant”, Dammam

The best part of having locals for friends are the restaurants you get to visit that you wouldn’t have known about otherwise. I have been living in Saudi Arabia for quite some time. So last week my Saudi colleagues decided to take me along for lunch to a restaurant in Dammam called Madhina near Othaim…

Lamb Mandi from “مطبخ البراهيم للمندي”, Al Ahsa

I was recently invited to a colleague’s wedding in a village called Al Omran in the traditional oasis region of Al Hassa. This was my second wedding in Al Hassa and i didn’t want to miss the opportunity of tasting some authentic Hassa cuisine. Introducing the Karouf (Lamb) Mandi, a speciality that was the main…

@chicken.firrie
Today’s post is my version of the ‘Mehran Qorma Masala’ recipe by @mehranarabia using @tanmiahchicken. This is by far one of the best creations I’ve cooked till date and NO THIS IS NOT A PAID POST.
It wasn’t until last night that i finally got to try ‘Lucknowi Tunday Kebab’ or like my friend likes to call it, a close relative. With over 160 spices being used for the original ‘Tunday’ kebab, this variant was born out of an experiment that turned out to be a success.
@makbousexpress has been consistent with the quality of their food and it also happens to be one of the restaurants I regularly visit for takeaway even when the pandemic was in full swing.
Now that we are in a state of semi lockdown thanks to Covid-19 rearing it’s ugly head again, it’s back to the kitchen for Instagram wannabe chefs like me to experiment with cooking. I decided to try my hand at preparing ‘Chicken Ginger Masala’, a recipe I found on a packet of Mehran’s masala.
I had been wanting to try @foodie__suz ‘Kottayam Fish Curry’ recipe and since we had enough ‘ചൂര / Tuna’, @shareeka23 decided to give it a go.
